BioAlliance Pharma Strengthens Global Management Team With Appointment of New CFO
Piers Morgan brings international financial experience gained in the UK as BioAlliance completes private placement and prepares to file for EU registration and initiate a pivotal Phase III trial of miconazole Lauriad ® in the US PARIS - June 6, 2005 - BioAlliance Pharma, a biopharmaceutical company focused on the field of drug resistance, announced today the appointment of Piers Morgan as Chief Financial Officer.
Morgan, 38, will play a key role in the substantial private placement currently under way as the company prepares to file for EU registration and to embark on a pivotal Phase III trial of its lead product, miconazole Lauriad® for treatment of oropharyngeal candidiasis in immune compromised patients. He comes to BioAlliance Pharma after more than four years as finance director of Arrow Therapeutics, a small molecule anti-infective research and development company based in London. His responsibilities at Arrow included raising EUR43.6 million ($54.7 million) in new equity investment and arranging a further EUR14.5 million ($18.2 million) in debt, tax rebates and government grants.
Prior to joining Arrow, Morgan spent nine years in investment banking. From 1997-2000, he worked at Ernst & Young on a wide range of global M&A transactions, including fund-raisings, privatizations, acquisitions, disposals and take-overs. He was also the founder-director of Ernst & Young's London-based Life Sciences M&A practice. From 1992 - 1997 he worked at Close Brothers Corporate Finance, a UK-listed investment bank, on the capital markets and M&A teams, and overall has advised on some 80 completed transactions in a range of sectors. Prior to investment banking, he worked for the London office of PriceWaterhouseCoopers from 1988-1992, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant, working in the Management Consulting and Audit practices. Piers Morgan holds a degree in Law and Management Studies from Cambridge University.

A Phase I/II trial in hepatocellular carcinoma utilizing the company’s doxorubicin Transdrug® nanoparticle delivery technology is ongoing in Europe, and has been granted orphan drug status by the EMEA and the US FDA.
